A law firm seeks a highly experienced environmental attorney to join its team in Albany, NY. The role involves advising on federal and state environmental regulations and participating in complex real estate and energy projects. This position offers a hybrid work schedule.

Duties

• Advise clients on environmental regulations, including CERCLA, CAA, and RCRA.
• Represent clients in permitting, compliance, and regulatory matters.
• Negotiate and close commercial real estate transactions.
• Lead environmental due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.
• Draft and negotiate environmental provisions in agreements.
• Manage permitting processes for energy and infrastructure projects.
• Advise on remediation strategies for contaminated properties.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate environmental risks.
• Review and assess environmental site assessments and reports.
• Counsel on ESA compliance and land use issues.
• Provide guidance on NYC Local Law 97 and energy transition matters.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Admission to the New York State Bar; other state admissions are a plus.
• Extensive experience in environmental permitting and compliance.
• Experience with energy, infrastructure, and large-scale projects.
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of environmental risk allocation.
• Experience drafting sophisticated environmental contracts.
• Ability to analyze technical environmental data.
• Familiarity with carbon markets and energy transition initiatives.

Education

• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar.
