A law firm seeks an associate with 3-6 years of experience in data privacy and cybersecurity to join its growing team in West Palm Beach, FL. The role involves advising clients on privacy compliance, incident response, and data governance within the healthcare, life sciences, and technology sectors.

Duties

• Advise clients on privacy compliance, including U.S. state laws, GDPR, and federal regulations like GLBA and HIPAA.
• Draft, review, and negotiate privacy policies, data processing agreements, and related documentation.
• Provide counsel on the use of cookies, tracking technologies, and data collection practices.
• Manage cybersecurity incident response, including breach response, ransomware events, and regulator engagement.
• Support time-sensitive incident response matters, including availability outside regular business hours when necessary.

Requirements

• 3-6 years of experience in data privacy and cybersecurity matters.
• Excellent drafting, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong legal research, analytical, and technical abilities.
• Proven ability to manage complex matters with high accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Admission to the bar in the jurisdiction where the candidate will be resident, in good standing.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction.

Skills

• Experience with data governance, information risk, retention, records, vendor risk, and data transfers.
• Knowledge of regulatory risk assessments and privacy/cybersecurity due diligence.
• Experience with regulatory investigation counseling and administrative matters before agencies like the FTC or HHS.
