Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Senior Attorney with extensive experience in insurance coverage and bad faith litigation defense for its Kansas City, MO office. The ideal candidate will manage complex cases independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.

Duties

• Manage files throughout the entire litigation process, both independently and as part of a team.



• Conduct thorough fact investigations and handle document productions and other discovery tasks.



• Prepare witnesses for depositions and take or defend depositions as needed.



• Prepare pleadings, briefs, and motions, including court hearing preparation and attendance.



• Review and analyze policies, contracts, and other legal documents to provide strategic guidance.



• Support trial preparation and attendance, including direct and cross-examination of witnesses.

Requirements

• At least eight years of experience in insurance coverage and bad faith litigation defense.



• Licensed to practice law in both Missouri and Kansas.



• Ability to work independently on complex insurance coverage and bad faith litigation cases.



• Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong legal analysis abilities.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active bar admission in Missouri and Kansas.

Skills

• Skilled in insurance policy review, legal analysis, and legal writing, including coverage opinions.



• Proficient in preparing witnesses and managing discovery processes.



• Strong trial preparation and courtroom advocacy skills.
