Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Insurance Coverage Attorney for their Kansas City, MO office. The candidate will primarily collaborate with attorneys in the Financial Services & Capital Markets unit, with opportunities for a flexible schedule and reduced billable hours. Preference is given to candidates residing in Illinois, Michigan, or Wisconsin.

Duties

• Handle insurance coverage disputes in the commercial insurance sector.
• Conduct factual investigations and discovery.
• Prepare pleadings and take depositions.
• Participate in mediation and argue motions.
• Communicate extensively with clients regarding coverage issues.
• Review commercial and personal lines insurance policies.
• Draft coverage evaluations and reservation of rights letters.

Requirements

• Minimum of five years of experience in insurance coverage and commercial litigation.
• Experience with all phases of complex commercial litigation.
• Active bar license in the state corresponding with the office or commitment to obtain one.
• Excellent academic credentials and strong legal research and writing skills.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and articulate legal strategies effectively.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active bar license in relevant state.
