Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Export Controls Associate to join its National Security & Global Trade practice in Washington, DC. This role offers the opportunity to engage with complex export controls issues, advising clients on regulatory matters impacting global business, technology, and national security.

Duties

• Advise clients on Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
• Counsel on export classifications, licensing, technology transfers, and restricted end users.
• Assist with export license applications and regulatory submissions.
• Develop and enhance export compliance programs and risk assessments.
• Support internal investigations and export control enforcement matters.
• Conduct diligence related to M&A, investments, and corporate transactions.
• Collaborate on cross-border matters with various practice areas.

Requirements

• 2-4 years of relevant legal experience.
• Experience with U.S. export controls, particularly EAR and/or ITAR.
• Familiarity with sanctions, CFIUS, and outbound investment is a plus.
• Interest in advising clients in technology, aerospace, and other regulated industries.

Education

• JD from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice in the District of Columbia.
