Job Overview

A law firm seeks a senior attorney to join its National Security and Global Trade practice in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have 4-7 years of experience in international trade compliance, export controls, economic sanctions, or a related field. This non-partner track position offers an opportunity to engage in meaningful work within a dynamic legal environment.

Duties

• Lead and support due diligence reviews for corporate transactions involving global trade compliance risks.
• Identify and communicate trade compliance risks and develop remediation strategies.
• Assist with corporate transactional workflow, including drafting and reviewing documents.
• Monitor and advise on developments in U.S. and international trade and enforcement trends.
• Collaborate with deal teams and outside counsel to ensure seamless execution of trade diligence workstreams.
• Contribute to the development of trade diligence playbooks and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4-7 years of relevant legal experience in international trade compliance or a related practice area.
• Experience conducting trade compliance due diligence in corporate transactions.
• Strong knowledge of EAR, ITAR, OFAC sanctions regulations, and customs laws.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high-quality work under deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education

• JD from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Bar Admission in the District of Columbia.
