Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Patent Litigation Associate to join its expanding Intellectual Property team in West Hartford, Connecticut. This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated commercial and IP matters within a collaborative environment, supporting clients across diverse industries including technology, life sciences, and manufacturing.

Duties

• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents while conducting thorough legal research.


• Take and defend depositions, manage discovery processes, and prepare for hearings and trial.


• Manage case workflows, meet competing deadlines, and participate in trial preparation activities.


• Build strong client relationships and contribute to the development of the firm's patent litigation practice.


 

Requirements

• 4-6 years of experience in commercial or intellectual property litigation.


• Experience in patent litigation is preferred; candidates looking to deepen this practice are encouraged to apply.


• Admission to practice in the relevant jurisdiction is required.


• Admission to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is preferred but not required.


 

Education

• Law degree from an accredited institution.


• A bachelor's degree in engineering or a scientific field is a plus.


 

Certifications

• Membership in good standing in the jurisdiction where the associate will practice.


 

Skills

• Strong writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.


• Ability to manage competing deadlines and work collaboratively with clients and colleagues.


• Experience with cross-border matters and federal court proceedings is desirable.
