A law firm seeks a Senior Tax Associate in Denver, CO. This role involves advising clients on complex tax planning, transactional structuring, compliance, and controversy matters. The position requires strategic guidance on federal, state, and local tax issues related to mergers, acquisitions, financings, restructurings, and joint ventures.

Duties

• Lead sophisticated tax planning and compliance matters.
• Mentor and develop junior legal professionals.
• Review and oversee tax analyses and research.
• Support practice development and strategic growth initiatives.
• Advise on federal, state, and local tax issues.
• Structure and support strategic transactions from a tax perspective.
• Conduct complex tax research and prepare legal memoranda.
• Advise nonprofit organizations on governance and compliance.
• Represent clients in IRS audits and tax controversies.

Requirements

• Approximately 7-10+ years of relevant tax law experience.
• Experience advising on tax planning, compliance, and transactions.
• Experience with IRS proceedings and tax controversy matters.
• Preferred experience with multistate taxation and tax-exempt organizations.

Education

• Bachelor's degree.
• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Excellent academic credentials.

Certifications

• Active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

Skills

• Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local tax law.
• Strong knowledge of partnership and corporate taxation.
• Familiarity with nonprofit governance and compliance.
• Excellent legal research and analytical abilities.
• Strong client-counseling and leadership capabilities.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
