Assistant Dean, Law Student Affairs

Duties: Reports to the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs. Focus on the academic, intellectual, psychological, and personal aspects of student life at the Law School. Will be responsible for managing all aspects of student life in the law school, including promoting student engagement in law school life, supervising law student activities and organizations, developing new organizations that promote service and professionalism, coordinating professional and social opportunities to engage law students in university life and to encourage law students to develop and maintain a professional manner and demeanor. Oversee the Office of Academic and Student Affairs, working closely with the Director of Bar Studies and the Director of Academic Support, as well as other academic support professionals; coordinate and work closely with the university's Dean of Students Office, to include: Management of conduct process for Law Code of Student Conduct alleged violations; Assisting with University conduct process for law student disciplinary proceedings; Reporting of law student conduct proceeding to the University Dean of Students Office; Coordinate and manage advising students on a variety of matters, including: law school and university policies and procedures; services relating to professional counseling, academic support and special accommodations; Coordinate with the faculty, with the Chaplain of the School of Law, with the Center for Legal and Social Justice and with others to encourage student formation as professionals committed to the service of others; Coordinate and manage initial character and fitness inquiries; Coordinate and manage student course advising; Coordinate and manage student counseling and referral to Student Psychological and Testing Services as appropriate; Coordinate and manage effective communication with current students about events, deadlines, and opportunities; Oversee all Law Registered Student Organizations to include use of RattlerTracks to manage and track Law RSO activities; Advise and coordinate with the Student Bar Association; Assist with 1L Orientation, Red Mass, Commencement and other academic events.
