Director of Legal Affairs
Candidate will provide advice, counsel and assistance to the Board of Trustees, President, executive officers, and various departments of the University concerning policy matters, business matters, contract review, risk management, and administrative and regulatory compliance. Review and interpret University policies and assist, as appropriate, in updating same as well review all major contracts. Tender claims to insurance carriers; advise Vice President for Finance and Administration regarding engagement of outside counsel; select and provide support to outside counsel, as appropriate; and assist Human Resources in assessing, addressing and resolving employment-related matters. Provide the Board of Trustees, President, executive officers, and departments of the University, upon request, with sufficient information to facilitate deliberation and decision-making. Assist Officers and Directors of the University in developing and implementing risk management policies and procedures; and assist with development and recommended training of University employees regarding legal duties and regulatory compliance. Specific duties evolve in relation to legislative, policy, contract, personnel and student-related issues. Perform other related duties as assigned.
