Senior Technology Transfer Associate

Duties: Reporting to a Director of Licensing, this licensing position independently manages a docket of technologies and has advanced level skills in technology marketing and licensing. Building faculty relationships, sourcing, negotiating and enforcing license agreements. Manage other functions for the office as assigned in addition to technology licensing. Establish and maintain positive relationships with faculty. Builds industry relations with companies with the intention of creating collaborations and technology licenses. Reviews invention disclosures to identify commercial product scenarios and their unique features and benefits. Evaluates the market potential of inventions, including market size and dynamics, the market need addressed by the invention, its competitive position and barriers to entering the marketplace. Determines an invention’s current stage of development and its future development path. Recommends a technology transfer path for new inventions (e.g., patent, waive rights, assign rights to inventors). Perform targeted marketing to companies, initiate company contacts, and develop relationships with key company licensing personnel. Identifies and qualifies potential licensing opportunities and licensees. Performs sales activities as needed to successfully transfer technology to outside entities for development and commercialization. Negotiates license agreements, including agreements that are especially complicated and require a high degree of technology licensing skill. Maintains current market knowledge and familiarity and understanding of market areas and development pipeline of potential licensees. Fill in for a Director of Licensing on an as-needed basis.
