Basic website from start to finish
Deliverable
1. Set up a basic webpage on Dreamhost using Wordpress that will be easy to maintain for a non-tech user.
2. Create a document that lays out the steps of how to update the major parts of the webpage.
3. Webpage will include the following parts:
a. Menu: Home, About, Articles (can use a blog function), Products
b. A page for each of the above with URLs that clearly identify the page
c. Includes our logo, name of company, and is consistent with our brand (style guide to be provided)
Us
Open Circle Institute is a new company that is providing online education created by minorities and works against the popular social narrative. We support Black Lives Matter. Our goal is to uplift queer, trans, disabled, non-cis-men of colour. Because we are new, you will have the opportunity to help us build from the ground up, and if we like your work, we will continue to use your services as we grow. We are based on the West Coast of Oregon, USA in the Pacific time zone.
You
Our ideal freelancer is someone who:
- has excellent communication skills. This does not necessarily mean a perfect command of the English language, but someone who readily admits when they have made a mistake, communicates when they are running behind schedule, and generally is willing and able to be brief and to the point.
- for the length of the project, is able to return messages in less than 12 hours (bonus points for less than 4 hours)
- has the skills to complete the project, but hasnt been creating websites for so long that theyve forgotten what is important to pass on to someone who will be trying to maintain the setup.
- has the ability to document in simple steps, including screenshots, captions, and summaries.
- is willing to point out if weve forgotten something that may be important to complete the purpose of the deliverable, not just the deliverable.
- holds one or more of the identities that we aim to support (not required)
