A law firm seeks a Defense Litigation Associate Attorney specializing in Mass Torts (Asbestos) to join its growing practice in Uniondale, NY. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced attorneys across multiple offices, engaging in high-level litigation strategy and representing defendants in state and federal courts nationwide. The position involves managing complex toxic tort matters in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Duties

• Take and defend depositions of plaintiffs and fact witnesses, utilizing video platforms for remote proceedings.



• Research legal, procedural, and scientific issues, collaborating with senior attorneys on case strategy.



• Draft responsive pleadings, memoranda, briefs, and significant motions, including motions for summary judgment and discovery motions.



• Prepare detailed reports for clients, including deposition summaries, litigation status updates, and case analysis.



• Represent clients at courtroom appearances, including oral argument of motions and discovery conferences.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of experience in asbestos defense litigation is required.



• Admission to the New York and New Jersey bars is mandatory.



• Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with strong organizational skills.



• Demonstrated ability to rapidly absorb and analyze new information while managing competing priorities.

Education

• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in New York and New Jersey.

Skills

• Excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills.



• Familiarity with Zoom, MS Teams, and other video platforms for depositions and court conferences.



• High level of professionalism, conscientiousness, and responsibility.



• Positive, flexible, and cooperative attitude; military experience is welcome.
