A law firm seeks a Defense Litigation Associate Attorney specializing in Mass Torts (Asbestos) to join its growing practice in White Plains, New York. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced attorneys across multiple offices, engaging in high-level litigation strategy and representing defendants in state and federal courts nationwide. The position involves managing complex toxic tort matters in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Duties

• Take and defend depositions of plaintiffs and fact witnesses, utilizing video conferencing platforms as needed.



• Research legal, procedural, and scientific issues, collaborating with senior attorneys on case strategy.



• Draft responsive pleadings, memoranda, briefs, and significant motions, including motions for summary judgment and discovery motions.



• Prepare comprehensive reports for clients, including deposition summaries, litigation status updates, and case analysis.



• Represent clients at courtroom appearances, including oral arguments of motions and discovery conferences.

Requirements

• Admission to the New York and New Jersey bars is required.



• Minimum of two years of experience in asbestos defense litigation.



• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.



• Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with strong organizational skills.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in New York and New Jersey.

Skills

• Excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills.



• Proficiency with Zoom, MS Teams, and other video platforms for depositions and court conferences.



• Strong ability to rapidly absorb and analyze new information.



• High level of professionalism, conscientiousness, and responsibility.



• Positive, flexible, and cooperative attitude; military experience is welcome.
