Job Overview

A law firm seeks a motivated Associate Attorney to join its team in Newberg, OR. This position is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career attorney eager to develop litigation and case management skills while working closely with experienced attorneys. The firm represents employers and insurers in workers' compensation, employment law, business disputes, insurance defense, and OSHA defense.

Duties

• Draft and prepare legal documents, pleadings, discovery requests, and motions.
• Review, analyze, and organize case-related documents.
• Manage multiple case files and monitor deadlines for timely progression.
• Conduct legal research and summarize findings effectively.
• Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and courts.
• Develop and manage a growing caseload with senior attorney guidance.
• Collaborate with attorneys and staff in a team-oriented environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support client representation and firm operations.

Requirements

• Active license to practice law in Oregon or Washington.
• Dual licensure in Oregon and Washington is strongly preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong academic credentials.
• Well-developed research, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active bar membership in Oregon or Washington.

Skills

• Familiarity with legal dictation software or dictation practices.
• Coursework, internships, clinics, or experience in Workers' Compensation (Oregon and/or Washington).
