A law firm seeks a New York-Barred Litigation Associate for a remote position based in Wilmington, DE. This role offers the opportunity to broaden professional experience within a collaborative team environment, providing hands-on litigation exposure from day one. The firm combines the training capabilities of a large practice with the personal interaction of a mid-size firm, supporting attorneys in diverse civil litigation matters.

Duties

• Represent clients in all phases of litigation, including initiation, expert discovery, and resolution, with a focus on professional liability and labor/employment matters.



• Attend court appearances, hearings, depositions, and case management conferences to advocate for client interests.



• Conduct complex legal research, draft discovery requests and responses, and prepare motions, pleadings, legal memoranda, and settlement agreements.



• Negotiate with opposing counsel to settle claims and communicate closely with clients to provide legal analysis, status reports, and strategic advice.

Requirements

• Must be admitted to the New York State Bar.



• Demonstrated familiarity with New York law and civil procedure is required.



• Previous experience in civil litigation is required; experience in professional liability or labor and employment is preferred.



• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, demanding environment with excellent organizational skills.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active New York State Bar membership in good standing.

Skills

• Proficiency in drafting discovery, leading depositions, and arguing motions is preferred.



• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.



• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).



• Proficient in LexisNexis legal research software.
