A law firm seeks a detail-oriented Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney to join its review team in Burbank, CA. This remote position focuses on the precise examination and editing of Compromise and Release agreements prior to filing with the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board. The ideal candidate thrives in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment, ensuring every settlement document is accurate, complete, and positioned for swift approval.

Duties

• Review and edit Compromise and Release agreements and related addendums to confirm accuracy, completeness, and compliance with WCAB requirements before filing.
• Verify settlement terms against case files, including ADJ numbers, injury dates, body parts, settlement amounts, attorney fees, permanent disability advances, liens, and future medical provisions.
• Examine addendums and attachments, such as Employment Separation Agreements and Medicare-related language, for consistency with the primary agreement and regulatory compliance.
• Identify and correct errors, omissions, or problematic language that could result in an Order Suspending Action or delay settlement approval.
• Communicate clearly with Settlement Administrators and internal teams regarding required corrections to ensure documents move through the pipeline efficiently.
• Manage a steady daily caseload, prioritize files by urgency, and maintain accurate status updates and notes in the firm's case management system.

Requirements

• Must be in good standing with the California State Bar.
• Demonstrated ability to handle high-volume document review while maintaining exceptional quality and precision.
• Strong deadline management skills with the ability to meet consistent turnaround times in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational skills with a reliable system for tracking pending, corrected, and ready files.
• Ability to prioritize tasks quickly and adjust to shifting priorities throughout the day.
• Exceptional attention to detail, recognizing that minor errors can significantly delay client settlements.
• Clear, efficient communication skills to provide concise, actionable feedback to internal teams.
• Independence with accountability, capable of working through queues with minimal supervision while knowing when to escalate issues.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in the State of California.

Skills

• Experience with California workers' compensation, particularly on the applicant side, is preferred.
• Familiarity with Compromise and Release drafting, WCAB approval requirements, and common Order Suspending Action issues is desired.
• Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
