Job Overview
A law firm seeks an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join its team in Jersey City, New Jersey. The ideal candidate will have 3-8 years of insurance defense litigation experience and be adept at managing a caseload independently while collaborating with seasoned litigators and firm leadership. Familiarity with New Jersey automobile liability matters is highly preferred.

Duties

• Manage a caseload of insurance defense matters from inception through resolution.
• Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, briefs, reports, and other litigation documents.
• Conduct and defend depositions, handle motion practice and court appearances.
• Participate in arbitrations and mediations, and prepare matters for trial.
• Handle automobile liability matters under New Jersey law.
• Maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers, claims professionals, and corporate clients.
• Conduct legal research, draft persuasive motions, briefs, and memoranda.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active New Jersey law license.
• 3-8 years of insurance defense litigation experience.
• Experience independently managing litigation matters.
• Experience handling pleadings, discovery, depositions, and motion practice.
• Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.

Education

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active New Jersey law license.
