Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Insurance Coverage Attorney to join its New York City office. This role offers the opportunity to represent national, regional, and international insurance carriers in complex coverage disputes across a broad range of insurance lines within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Duties

• Manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution, including handling depositions, motion practice, mediations, hearings, and trials.
• Analyze insurance policies, evaluate complex coverage issues, and draft coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, and disclaimer letters.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and other litigation-related documents while providing strategic guidance to clients.
• Communicate directly with clients to provide regular case updates and collaborate closely with attorneys across offices and practice groups.

Requirements

• Admission to practice law in New York is required.
• Minimum of two years of experience in insurance coverage and/or insurance coverage litigation.
• Strong analytical, writing, research, and communication skills with the ability to independently manage multiple matters.
• Excellent organizational, case management, and interpersonal skills suitable for a fast-paced environment.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in the State of New York.

Skills

• Experience with professional liability, Directors & Officers (D&O), and financial institutions coverage is preferred.
• Proficiency in coverage opinion drafting, policy analysis, and insurance coverage litigation, including motion practice and depositions.
