Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Senior Associate with substantial experience in wage-and-hour litigation, including class and collective actions, to join its team in Evanston, IL. This role is ideal for an attorney with hands-on experience handling complex employment litigation and taking a lead role in strategy, case management, discovery, briefing, and client counseling.

Duties

• Lead and manage the defense of FLSA collective actions, PAGA, and related wage-and-hour litigation from initial assessment through resolution.
• Develop case strategy, including early risk analysis and settlement strategy, while drafting significant motions such as those for summary judgment and class certification.
• Manage complex discovery, including large-scale document productions, ESI issues, written discovery, and depositions of various witnesses.
• Work closely with clients to understand business operations, compensation practices, and timekeeping systems relevant to wage-and-hour matters.
• Supervise and mentor junior attorneys, manage experts, and analyze damages, payroll, and other complex data.
• Participate in mediations, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation while providing advice on compliance and litigation risk.

Requirements

• 5+ years of wage-and-hour litigation experience, with a focus on class and collective action defense.
• Strong working knowledge of the FLSA, PAGA, and other applicable wage-and-hour laws.
• Ability to independently manage sophisticated litigation matters and competing deadlines with exceptional judgment.
• Experience working directly with corporate clients, in-house counsel, and senior business leaders.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active membership in at least one state bar.
