Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Chicago, IL to collaborate with the principal attorney and affiliated counsel. The role involves assisting clients with privacy, patent, trademark, and copyright disputes, including federal and TTAB litigation, mediation, arbitration, and informal negotiation. The attorney will also manage patent and trademark prosecution before the USPTO.

Duties

• Assist with IP and commercial litigation in federal courts and ADR activities.
• Prepare and review litigation correspondence, arguments, memos, and briefs.
• Assist in internal document collection and production.
• Meet deadlines and manage time effectively, even during intense work periods.
• Fulfill administrative responsibilities, including timekeeping and billing.
• Support general administrative duties related to IP matters.

Requirements

• Proficient knowledge of U.S. patent, trademark, and copyright law.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; detail-oriented.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage priorities under pressure.
• Proficiency with Westlaw research.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
• Work independently and take initiative.
• Engage in active listening and handle high-stress situations calmly.
• Interest in e-commerce and related legal trends.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree and Juris Doctor.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in Illinois and admitted to practice before the NDIL.

Skills

• Robust knowledge of U.S. patent and trademark rules and procedures.
• Computer proficiency in Google Suite, Windows-based software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with Clio is a plus.
