A law firm seeks a Remote Associate Attorney in New York, NY, US, to join a collaborative team focused on insurance defense litigation. This role offers the training and systems of a large firm with the personal interaction of a mid-size practice, providing hands-on experience from day one across diverse fields of litigation.

Duties

• Represent clients in all phases of litigation, from initiation through expert discovery, in matters involving professional liability or labor and employment.



• Attend court appearances, hearings, depositions, and case management conferences, while negotiating with opposing counsel to settle claims.



• Conduct complex legal research, draft discovery requests and responses, motions, pleadings, affidavits, and legal memoranda.



• Review discovery responses and depositions, preparing summaries, litigation update reports, and providing ongoing legal analysis and advice to clients.

Requirements

• Must be barred in New Jersey with a strong familiarity with New Jersey law and procedure.



• Previous experience in civil litigation is required, with a preference for candidates experienced in drafting discovery, leading depositions, and arguing motions.



• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment with excellent organizational skills.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in the State of New Jersey.

Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).



• Proficiency in Lexis legal research software.



• Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
