A law firm seeks a Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate Attorney to join its growing team in Parsippany, NJ. This role focuses on advising clients on privacy compliance, cybersecurity incident response, and data governance within the Healthcare, Life Sciences, and Technology sectors. The position offers a hybrid work environment, allowing for remote work two days per week.

Duties

• Advise clients on privacy compliance, including U.S. state privacy laws, GDPR, and federal regulations such as GLBA and HIPAA.
• Draft, review, and negotiate privacy policies, data processing agreements, and related documentation.
• Provide counsel on the use of cookies, tracking technologies, and data collection methods.
• Manage cybersecurity incident response, including breach response, ransomware events, and engagement with regulators and state attorneys general.
• Support time-sensitive cybersecurity matters, which may require availability outside regular business hours.

Requirements

• 3-6 years of experience in data privacy and cybersecurity matters.
• Excellent drafting, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong legal research, analytical, and technical abilities.
• Proven ability to manage complex matters with high accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Admission to the bar in the jurisdiction of residence and in good standing.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction.

Skills

• Experience with data governance, information risk, retention, records, vendor risk, and data transfers.
• Knowledge of privacy and cybersecurity due diligence, including buy-side and sell-side transactions.
• Experience with regulatory investigation counseling and representing clients before the FTC, HHS, and state attorneys general.
