Director of Academic Support and Bar Success Services
Duties: Hire and supervise 2L and 3L student mentors; Develop lesson plans to implement the Student Affairs academic support curriculum and student study groups; Regularly observe and assess student study group meetings during the fall semester; Assist with assessment and assistance to students on academic probation; Maintain bar pass statistics and data for the Law School; Teach all of the Law School’s bar skills classes during the fall and spring semesters; Design, plan, schedule, and teach bar pass program that runs concurrent with students’ bar study (“concurrent bar pass program”); Advertise and otherwise promote concurrent bar pass program to current UA Little Rock Bowen students, particularly those students about to graduate; Solicit, on an individual basis ,those students at risk of failing the bar and recruiting same to participate in the concurrent bar pass program; Assist and counsel students completing their bar application; Work individually with bar takers who request private assistance; Administer and manage the Bowen Commercial Bar Preparation Scholarship program; Maintain contact with all bar takers to provide support, encouragement and assistance; Regularly attend and prepare presentations for one or more academic support conferences; Counsel and assist students with disabilities with applications for accommodations on the bar exam; Work with IT staff to develop and maintain website for UA Little Rock Bowen bar takers; Maintain and manage Bowen Bar Success Services social media presence; Assist the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and the Program Coordinator for Student Affairs as needed; Perform other duties as needed.
