A law firm seeks an experienced Senior or Partner-Level Patent Attorney with a background in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline to join their intellectual property practice in Voorhees, NJ. This role offers the opportunity to manage significant patent portfolios, shape IP strategy, and develop a personal practice within an established platform.

Duties

• Manage and develop U.S. and international patent portfolios.
• Draft and prosecute patent applications in mechanical and related technologies.
• Develop patent strategies aligned with clients' objectives.
• Counsel clients on patentability, freedom to operate, and competitive landscapes.
• Work directly with inventors, engineers, and executives.
• Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and patent agents.
• Coordinate international patent prosecution with foreign counsel.
• Assist with IP due diligence, licensing, and strategic reviews.
• Support patent litigation and pre-litigation matters.
• Participate in business development and strategic growth initiatives.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Significant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• Strong understanding of U.S. patent prosecution and portfolio strategy.
• Exceptional legal writing, analytical, and communication skills.
• Admission to the New Jersey Bar or eligibility to obtain admission.

Education

• J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
