Director, Graduate Program & Alumni Coaching

RESPONSIBILITIES: Counseling – Provide career coaching to graduate students and alumni. Depending on office needs, incumbent may also work with JD students. Program Management – Identify strategies and models for addressing identified gaps and industry challenges for lateral candidates. Assess and establish long-range leadership-focused career services strategies, policies and procedures for Student and Career Services. Perform short-term and long-term strategic planning and make recommendations to the Assistant Dean regarding program changes and measurable outcomes. In partnership with graduate programs’ administration and faculty, assess, develop and implement programs to enhance the job search skills and strategies for students and alumni, including the LL.M. Career Workshop Series, Graduate Career Fairs, graduate program orientation, etc. In partnership with graduate programs administration and faculty, develop and implement best practices for ensuring high-quality and consistent career services for students and alumni across all graduate programs. Establish long-range, leadership focused career services strategies, policies, and procedures. Develop marketing and outreach at a local, national, and international level to create employment opportunities for current students and alumni. Outreach – Develop strategic relationships with potential employers from all sectors (law firm, business, judicial, government, public interest, etc). While this position particular focuses on lateral recruiting, these relationships will benefit all students. Collaborate with graduate program administrators and faculty to develop practicum opportunities, expand the pipeline of intern-to-employee opportunities for graduate program students, and develop the job search skills of graduate students. Build knowledge base of the marketplace for positions which have a legal dimension but do not necessarily require a JD (human resources, patent agent, risk management, insurance industry, real estate transactions, mediation and advocacy positions).
