Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Patent Prosecution Associate for its Atlanta office. This mid- to senior-level role offers the opportunity to work with sophisticated corporate clients across various industries on complex patent matters within an established and collaborative practice.

Duties

• Independently manage patent prosecution matters, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications and responding to office actions.
• Provide patent counseling, preparation, and portfolio management services to clients with sophisticated intellectual property needs.
• Exercise independent judgment and take ownership of assignments while maintaining a strong commitment to client service and responsiveness.
• Collaborate with attorneys and other professionals across the firm to deliver high-quality legal services.

Requirements

• Approximately five years of substantive patent prosecution experience, preferably in a law firm environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work directly with sophisticated corporate clients and manage multiple matters efficiently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, analytical abilities, and professional judgment.
• Self-motivated professional with a strong work ethic, business-minded approach, and excellent organizational skills.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science required.

Certifications

• Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) required.
• Admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction required; Georgia bar admission is not necessarily required, subject to applicable licensing requirements and firm policy.
