Communications Manager

Profile

Primary Function:
The primary function of Hillside's Communication Manager are to design visually striking materials for promoting Hillside's ministries and to keep the church family informed of all important church life information. The Communication Manager will have general office responsibilities for approximately eight hours a week.
Design Responsibilities
Create main graphic for each message series
Design clear, visually compelling slides for worship service
Design all necessary materials for promoting Hillside's ministries including materials for Worship, Children's, Youth, Care, and CJM (posters, signs, lawn signs, invite cards, SWAG, etc.)
Promotion Responsibilities
Post about Hillside three times each week on social media
Distribute all promotional materials
Create ads for social media and online newspapers for special events (i.e. Kids Camp, Christmas services, Project Parkmead events, etc.)
Manage and order SWAG
Communication Responsibilities
Create and send out clear , visually compelling, error-free weekly eNews
Manage website including structure, content, files, hosting
Design and post all in-house signs and other promotional material
Assemble, edit, and reproduce church-wide publications (i.e. Annual Report, Church Directory, Welcome Brochure)
General Office Responsibilities
Communicate warmth to everyone who walks through the door
Oversees room/event booking process as laid out in Event Checklist
Maintains all-church database
Preserves church records (membership, baptism, Home Group rosters, etc.)
Maintains all-church calendar (this includes adding events to calendar, monitoring for potential conflicts, tracking items for timely inclusion in church communications, etc.)
Coordinates all-church mailings - print and online (includes preparing labels, affizing postage, and scheduling people to help)
Handles the scheduling of Welcome Team members (Greeters, Ushers, Info Counter Hosts, Parking Lot Attendants)
Make copies of sermon notes
Back Up to Director of Technology Responsibilities (Three or Four Weeks a Year)
Operate tech for large group Bible Study in Community Center (prep on Monday)
Schedule tech team for following Sunday
Reach out to guest speaker to request title, blurb, slides, and notes
Livestream Pre-Production Tasks on Friday
Livestream Post-Production and publishing
Meetings:
Weekly staff meeting and weekly check-in with Michele Miller. As needed, meetings with senior pastor and other staff
Time Commitments:
Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m; staff retreats and staff days away
Position Experience Requirements:
Cheerful, gracious disposition
Professional in speech and presentation
Able to enthusiastically receive feedback on design elements
Strong organizational skills
Superb design skills
Superb writing and editing skills
Competent in Canva, Word, Outlook, Publisher, Excel and able to learn Planning Center
Effective at multitasking
Team player
Video production and editing helpful

What Hillside Will Provide:
Hillside will provide a warm, respectful environment and the opportunity to become a first-class member of our ministry team. Although the position of Communications Manager is multi-faceted, we will provide time to grow into the position as each critical skill is mastered. Hillside will also provide additional training for skills that are critical to the position and that would enchance productivity.
