Associate General Counsel
The candidate will provide a wide range of legal services in support of the University, focusing primarily on preventative counsel, risk advice, and transactional legal work in an increasingly complex public environment. Legal support areas include to: immigration, contracts, tort liability, issues related to student affairs, student privacy rights, public access law, intellectual property, real estate, and other legal areas affecting the University. Conduct research of state and federal legislation and administrative and court decisions; investigate legal issues and make recommendations on matters referred by the Vice President and General Counsel. Analyze a broad range of complex laws and regulations affecting the university in areas of legal specialty. Manage various projects in an organized and time-sensitive manner. Provide formal, topic-specific training on legal issues involving legal matters related to the University. Maintain a current knowledge of legal issues of importance to the University through participation in continuing legal education and membership in appropriate bar and professional associations.
