Senior Legal Counsel
The candidate will independently negotiate, draft and review a wide variety of commercial agreements, including data licenses, software licenses, strategic alliance agreements, non-disclosure agreements and other commercial contracts. Support and advise product, sales and strategic alliances teams (with a primary focus on Americas) and provide them with innovative legal and business solutions. Develop knowledge of multiple areas of the law, including intellectual property and data privacy, to counsel internal clients on business and legal risks arising at all stages of the customer relationship. Identify, evaluate, and mitigate business and legal risk related to new product and business initiatives. Interact and work closely with IHS Markit Global Legal Team and provide strategic and legal inputs on matters across different business areas. Must have Law degree. Should have 2-4 years' experience as a practicing lawyer / legal counsel with commercial, contracts, contractual and general legal experience from a law firm or in an in-house legal environment. Must have experience in negotiating and drafting commercial and other business-to -business technology and information related contracts. Experience in compliance, intellectual property and data privacy matters required. Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills. Should have knowledge of data and software licensing, intellectual property, and commercial contract law. Experience with engineering, technology, or financial companies is a plus.
