Director of Admissions and Financial Aid
The candidate will be responsible for the planning, management and implementation of law student recruitment, admissions and financial aid. Will report directly to the Dean and is responsible for the supervision of the admissions staff. Plan and implement recruitment and retention strategies to attract a highly qualified and diverse student body, with special emphasis on increasing the number of very able students, and increasing the representation within the student body of students with diverse backgrounds and interests and travel, and coordinate travel by others, to appropriate law school events to maximize quality and number of qualified and diverse students entering the College of Law each year. Coordinate visits to the College of Law by applicants, pre-law advisors, and others who will assist the College of Law in fulfilling its admissions goals and counsel applicants and prospective applicants in conjunction with the staff of the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid. Review applicant files individually and in conjunction with the Admissions Committee, and participate in meetings of the Committee and coordinate with the Dean of the College of Law, the Admissions Committee, and the associate director of admissions in determining scholarship awards to admitted applicants. Serve or coordinate others to serve as the College of Law’s contact with the Law School Admission Council and other appropriate persons and organizations relevant to recruiting outstanding students to the College of Law and collaborate with the Director of Communications in the College of Law on law school publications geared toward admissions, recruitment and financial aid opportunities and to implement public relations and marketing strategies related to recruitment. Work with alumni groups as requested by the Dean, the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, and as otherwise appropriate to meet the admissions goals of the department.
