Primary Purpose: Perform professional accounting duties involving compilation, consolidation, analysis and
reporting of financial data. Work with an integrated automated financial accounting system; preparing
journal entries, reconciling accounts and reporting. Work with all aspects of accounting data and prepare
monthly and annual ledger closing. Reconcile bank statements; prepare and reconcile monthly investments;
prepare tracking information for return bank items, reconcile and monitor grant accounts.
Qualifications
Required:
? Bachelor’s Degree, in accounting, finance or related field (will evaluate related experience in lieu
of college degree)
? TASBO certified or on track to receive TASBO certification.
Experience:
? Experience with integrated financial software system (Skyward finance preferred)
? Three to five years in public school accounting
Special Knowledge/Skills
? Knowledge of Texas Education Agency (TEA) Financial Accountability System Resource Guide
? Knowledge of applicable State of Texas and United States government and government agency
compliance requirements
? Knowledge of governmental accounting and auditing principles established by the Governmental
Accounting Standards Board (GASB)
? Experience with a strong knowledge of Skyward finance application
? Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, evaluate accounting problems, develop data, and
recommend improved procedures
? Ability to use software to develop complex accounting reports, spreadsheets, and database
? Knowledge of payroll, benefits, accounts payables and purchasing functions in public school setting
? Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
