1 2 INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE TRAINING PROGRAM 2021Tyson Fresh Meats/Muscatine Community CollegeSUMMARY With Tyson’s One-Plus-Two Maintenance Training Program a participant joins Tyson as a full-time maintenance Team Member while attending classes at Muscatine Community College’s Industrial Maintenance program. With one plus two you can get paid while learning a trade in Industrial maintenance. Students in the program complete approximately 9 months of the Maintenance One-Plus-Two Program, the employee commits to working full-time in the maintenance department at the Louisa County facility for a minimum period of two (2) continuous years after completing the program.Positions are responsible for keeping machinery running to maintain continuous production. This includes repairing and maintaining the operating conditions of the machinery and Industrial equipment used in the pork processing industry, troubleshooting problems that occur in the day- to-day operation of the facility. The position requires performing work involving hydraulics, electrical, plumbing, conveyor maintenance, 3-phase wiring, AC/CD control wiring, welding and pneumatic systems. The Team Member will also set up, adjust and break down production line machinery and complete daily documentation that is required.Classes are tentatively scheduled for September 2021 thru July 2022. Internal Candidates selected prior to the start of these courses may be temporarily placed into Maintenance Training.TRAINING SCHEDULE: *CLASS SCHEDULEMonday through Thursday 12:30pm - 4:30pm at MCC campus at Columbus Community Schools, Columbus Junction, Iowa * WORK SCHEDULEMonday through Thursday 5:30pm - 8:30pm & Sunday 12:00pm - 8:00pm at Tyson Fresh Meats in Columbus Junction, IowaTuition Withholding Plan Available.REQUIREMENTS: Resume or complete application is required: must contain contact information, related work experience/history, skills and educational information.


High school diploma, GED or equivalent is required.

Must be willing and able to work any department or shift.

Must be willing and able to work weekends and holidays.

Must be able to work up to a 12-hour shift.

Must be able and willing to work in extreme hot or cold environments.

Must be capable of communicating well both verbally and in writing with all levels of team members from hourly to upper management, as well as government officials.

Must be able to successfully complete computer-based training modules and read/understand training manuals.

Must be willing and able to lift 60 plus pounds as necessary.

Must be willing and able to work in confined space and working at heights above normal work area; use of ladders, lifts, and scaffolds; as well as any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Must be willing and able to perform work that involves gripping and the use of your hands and arms above the level of your shoulders.

Must be willing and able to work around the sight and the smell of meat products or any other product present when processing meat.

Team members in program must maintain 2.0 or better grade point average.


Anyone hired into this position will be expected to stay on track with their training until he/she reaches level 7.Maintenance candidates must be able to successfully complete the level maintenance in the specified time of period or they will be returned to their previous department.Applicants who fail to provide Social Security number will be rejected.
