Compliance Officer

Responsibilities: Adjudicate cases and determine developmentally appropriate educational sanctions for students charged with violations of the Student Code of Conduct and for student grievances. Provide consultation for students with problems, questions, and/or concerns regarding sexual misconduct (e.g. sexual assault, stalking, and domestic violence). Communicate with and serve as a resource to students, faculty, staff, parents, attorneys, and others regarding student conduct matters. Maintain student conduct records in the Maxient Discipline Tracking software in accordance with all federal laws and college policies and monitor and ensure compliance with federal and state laws including the Clery Act, Title IX, and Drug Free Schools. Assist with the development and maintenance of the college's web presence on Student Conduct. Possess thorough knowledge of applicable laws and regulations and SJC policies regarding student discipline, student records, victim's rights, and the adjudication of sexual harassment and sexual assault cases. Assist with the training of conduct appellate board members related to hearing and appeals processes. Maintain knowledge of nationally recognized best practices in student conduct administration, including strategic planning and assessment. Perform other duties as assigned.
