Staff Attorney-Tenant Legal Assistance
The candidate will work with judges, bar associations, and other stakeholders to plan and implement expanded pro bono services for tenants. The attorney will also provide direct legal services to tenants on a limited basis. The attorney’s activities will include developing a recruitment and training plan for pro bono attorneys. The attorney will work with bar associations to develop continuing legal education programs to train pro bono attorneys on COVID-19 related housing issues, which will be offered without charge as a way to train and recruit new volunteers. The attorney will implement attorney of the day programs at various housing courts as well as other programs to advise tenants of COVID-19 related rights and defenses. The attorney will work with COMPANY and other legal services providers to develop a report on systemic issues impacting tenants, including the impact of COVID-19. The attorney will work with COMPANY pro bono and technology staff, the courts and other stakeholders to develop virtual program components to the extent necessary during the pandemic. The attorney will be required to comply with all COMPANY policies and procedures and grant-based reporting requirements.
