VP, Employment Law Counsel
The candidate will provide in-house legal counsel on labor and employment related matters, which may include, human resources issues, wage and hour law, workers’ compensation, unemployment and other state agency claims, employee relations, employee benefits, employment/compensation agreements and policy related issues, FMLA and other state/local leave matters, employment related litigation, internal employee investigations, arbitrations and generally assists the General Counsel and Human Resources Department. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment practices laws, rules and regulations. Provide strategic legal counsel and risk management advice to management and the Human Resources team on a wide variety of HR and employment practices matters. Lead the Legal team's efforts in the preparation, implementation, and refinement of labor and employment-related policies, procedures, guidelines, tools, programs, and forms. Advice and counsel clients and stakeholders on employment-related legal matters, policies and procedures. Represent and defend the company as necessary in front of applicable federal, state and local regulatory and enforcement authorities. Support the company’s need to use VISA workers and assist with employment-related immigration matters. Counsel management and the Human Resources team on new or pending federal and state legislation, laws, rules and regulations, and industry developments and trends that affect the company and its operations. Efficiently manage outside employment counsel with an eye toward minimizing outside counsel expense and meeting budget. Provide substantive support for the rest of the Legal team including strategic transactions and other ad hoc projects as needed. Provide reports and supervision to the General Counsel and senior management on compliance issues.
