Job Summary

Reporting into the Director of DMR Engineering, this role will be responsible for executing data integration and consolidation projects (truly engineering/delivering on architecture requirements) to cater to the reporting and analytical needs of the various business units in the enterprise. The right candidate for this role is passionate about technology, can interact with product owners and technical stakeholders, thrives under pressure, and is hyper-focused on delivering exceptional results with good teamwork skills. The ideal candidate must be technical to be hands-on, speak to the technical architecture and has the managerial expertise to lead engineering teams.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities


Hands on development management role working across Data Engineering and collaborating with Business, Data stewards, Data Architecture, Reporting and Operations teams.

Actively participate in project handover from architect and stewardship teams to ensure full understanding of the initiative – goals, data models, transformation logic, technologies and platforms involved

Lead and contribute in high level solution designing, test planning and platform decisions.

Define and develop the technical roadmap aligned with leadership team's vision and strategy. Partner with customer-facing peers to create and deliver on roadmaps. This includes participating in planning processes, defining a technical solution, establishing and implementing applications based on architecture direction

Establish and evangelize best practices, frameworks and processes across data engineering

Oversee technical strategy across data integration, data lake, data warehousing and data access layers

Contribute to elimination of technical debts and improving operational efficiency

Ensure high quality deliverables aligning to the development and data standards and best practices while constantly raising the bar

Lead and manage the engagement with technical partners including offshore, consulting and technology partners

Technical and architectural leadership in a team that consists of highly technical professionals.

Recruit, lead and mentor a team of talented data professionals, overseeing data engineering and solution architecture

Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

Education and Experience



Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or related discipline is required

Hands on experience with Hadoop ecosystem tools like Spark (PySpark and Scala), YARN, HDFS, Hive, Sqoop, understanding of systems performance data (collection, monitoring, analysis)

Working experience on Database systems with strong SQL skills are required

Expert Knowledge in Python/SPARK/EMR/Glue/RedShift technologies

Cutting-edge expertise on cloud-based technologies supporting big data management, modern data pipelines, and integrated real-time analytics

Business Skills



Advanced technical design and problem-solving skills with the demonstrated ability to effectively learn new business tools and processes

Strong business acumen and expertise contributing to roadmap and strategy discussions

Familiarity with the Finance and marketing landscape.

Experience working in agile development methodology with good knowledge on backlog grooming, sprint planning, conducting and participating in agile ceremonies etc.

Is good at establishing clear directions; sets stretching objectives; distributes the workload appropriately; lays out work in a well-planned and organized manner; maintains two-way dialogue with others on work and results; brings out the best in people.
