Training will include information about project protocols and resources, including protecting confidentiality. In addition to providing students an opportunity to learn to conduct culturally sensitive, client centered consultations, will increase the neighboring, underserved community’s access to legal services by offering assistance directly on-site, out in the community health and human services centers. Additionally, will initiate and maintain continuing contact with community partners through meetings and community events. Consult regularly with community service providers on legal questions raised by their work with survivors. Along with Casa Myrna staff, the Legal Fellow will maintain legal outreach services to community partners at those times when students are not in session. Participate in quarterly meetings with Casa Myrna to assess the progress of providing on-site services, communicate any changes in policy, practice or availability of services relevant to the collaboration, update protocols and procedures as necessary, report on the availability and effectiveness of clinical and co-op law students, and brainstorm solutions to problems or practices that interfere with effective delivery of services. Also collect and report all OVW-required data and other data necessary for performance monitoring to Casa Myrna in a timely manner. Work with Casa Myrna to identify best practices for interviewing, lethality assessment and safety planning, legal needs assessment, emergency services provisions and referrals when serving racially, ethnically, and linguistically minority clients.
