C .NET OOD SW Engineer - 8 month contract

Senior SW Engineer (PLC and/or Machine Vision, C#, GUI, OOD and .NET) – near Newbury Park, CA contract (likely to last 8 months)
The qualified candidate will be responsible for all aspects of software engineering for large scale capital equipment used in the data storage industry. The engineer will work in a small team designing innovative software solutions and intuitive user interfaces for use by machine operators and process engineers. Will gain thorough understanding of systems created by a multi-disciplinary engineering team, thoroughly investigate the needs of the system users, identify the system software requirements and translate them into a formal software specification. Then, will break it into components and specify their interfaces, and implement, test and debug the software using C# in the Microsoft Visual Studio environment.
Essential functions of this challenging opportunity include the following:
Design and support complex PC-based software systems
Design intuitive user interfaces (HMI) based on extensive user feedback
Write software APIs for controlling a wide variety of electromechanical hardware
Extensively utilize Object oriented design
Machine vision design involving contour, pattern finding & edge detection utilizing 3rd party libraries
Develop software interfacing to motion controllers and PLC’s
Identify and use other 3rd party software components as appropriate
To qualify for this exciting opportunity you should possess a
BS/MS in EE, Computer Science or Computer Engineering and 5 years of related experience, including:
Must have really good understanding of C#, .NET framework v3.5, 4.0 and Visual Studio 2010
Must have good knowledge of ‘Composite’ and ‘Command’ design patterns, very loosely-coupled code, understanding of the Action, Func and delegate expressions, recursion especially as used in the ‘Composite’ pattern, Windows Forms data binding, especially to custom objects
Familiarity with modern software development practices (e.g. version control, issue tracking, automated testing, code review, agile practices)
Proficient with complex user interface design (HMI – human machine interface)
Desirable experience includes: software system architecture (e.g. using UML); XML & database knowledge; semiconductor-related equipment; and algorithm knowledge.
