Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer

Profile

The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer will primarily be involved in designing of Business Objects Universes and reports from SQL Server data marts. He/She will also be responsible for creating canned reports in Crystal Reports or WebIntelligence. He/She will also be versed in utilizing data to do some business analytics.

Tasks would include:
Design of the Universe in Business Objects for use by Marketing, Finance, Product, Operations and Engineering on the key metrics for the business.
Development of canned reports in WebIntelligence and/or Crystal Reports.
Development of Dashboards using Xcelsius.
User support for complex ad-hoc reports in WebIntelligence.
Development of T-SQL queries for derived tables, stored procedures, functions to support the Universe structure.
Coordination with Product and Project Managers to clarify and resolve issues with business requirements.
Participation in analysis of current systems to determine impact of upgrades.
Coordination with rest of Engineering team to apply standards to comply with data warehouse data structures.
Essential Technical Competencies
In-depth knowledge of designing Universe in Business Objects XI Rel. 3/4.
Extensive experience in implementing aggregates, linked universes, drill-through and dynamic modules.
Experience in writing T-SQL scripts, dynamic SQL, stored procedures and functions in Oracle.
Experience in developing canned reports using Crystal Report, Web Intelligence Document and OLAP Intelligence Report.
An understanding and working knowledge of data warehouse architecture and concepts including dimensional modeling and relational modeling
Data handling across different data sources * SQL Server, MS Access, MS Excel, etc, including meta data exchange.
Exposure to Central Management console, Report Server, Job Server, Scheduler etc.
Experience using database design tool tools such as Toad.
Required Experience
3 years’ experience in design of Business Objects Universe.
3 years’ experience in development of Reports in Crystal Report writer and Web-Intelligence.
3 years proven experience in design/development of data warehouse and business intelligence projects.
1 years’ experience in developing dashboards using Xcelsius
Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must as is a demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Strong attention to detail/delivery of accurate products
Ability to work well independently, as well as cooperatively with others
Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Bachelors and in Computer Science, Information Systems, or several years of equivalent experience
Nice to Have:
Oracle BRM experience
Telecom billing experience, especially usage based billing.
