Job/Internship Description
The Ultra Engineering function manages a portfolio of specialist capabilities, generating highly differentiated solutions and products by applying electronic, mechanical, and software technologies in demanding and critical environments to meet customer needs.
Ultra Electronics Naval Systems and Sensorsis searching for a highly motivated and detail oriented Software Engineering Intern to support the development of an existing Radar system. Working closely with program leads and system engineering, the Software Engineering Intern will support the development of the Radar System through design, development, and finally the integration and test events. This role will include significant development and testing of systems and test tools in addition to traditional software development activities. The Software Engineer will have the opportunity to support the development and selection of key technologies for the Navy and will have the opportunity to work with complex software algorithms and cutting-edge digital signal processing hardware.
Required Skills:
Currently at least a Sophomore enrolled in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline, ideally with a GPA of 3.0 or better
Ability to obtain a US Government security clearance.Security clearances are granted to U.S. citizens.
Desired Skills:
Development with a major object-oriented programming language such as C (preferred) and/or Java
Use of proper coding practices through the development life cycle
UML or other design modeling techniques
Linux-based operating systems and code development
Development using basic editors such as VI, emacs, Gedit, etc.
Working with a team to jointly develop a system during all phases of the development lifecycle
Strong attention to detail and work ethic
Working knowledge of the use of third party tools to do code coverage, memory leak, and other code integrity checks
Knowledge or understanding of Qt programming
