Head of Intellectual Property
The candidate will report to the Chief Legal Officer and Head of Corporate Strategy. Will work closely with R&D organization and senior leadership team to create and secure protection for the intellectual property of a growing biotech company. Identify, procure and defend intellectual property worldwide including evaluating inventions, conducting prior art searches, preparing and prosecuting patent applications. Supervise outside counsel in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications. Conduct freedom-to-operate analyses; monitor and analyze third-party intellectual property. Counsel and educate scientists and management regarding IP issues and strategies. Support business development and management on licensing opportunities and IP-related transactional work. Review nondisclosure, research, material transfer and service agreements involving the use, transfer, or ownership of intellectual property. Lead implementation of IP policies, guidelines and objectives. Provide other legal advice and services as may be required from time to time in a growing biotech company.
