Associate General Counsel
The candidate will assist the General Counsel in the management and handling of all labor and employment related legal matters for the University (and certain of its affiliated support organizations) including: human resources issues, wage and hour, worker's compensation, unemployment and other federal/state agency claims, labor relations, employee benefits, employment agreements and policy related issues, FMLA matters, ADA matters, employment related litigation, grievances and advising on the terms of the various collective bargaining agreements. Should have a J.D. or LL.B. degree from an ABA-accredited law school with 5+ years of experience as a practicing labor and employment attorney. Must be a member of the Florida Bar or become a member within twelve months of employment. Training and marked accomplishment representing a large university or tax-exempt organization is required. Experience in or representing a large complex public organization is needed. Direct knowledge and experience handling employment related lawsuits is essential. Experience handling labor and employment matters before federal, state courts and administrative agencies is a must. Legal dispute resolution and complex legal document drafting experience is a prerequisite.
