LLM Senior Career Counselor
The candidate: Advises and counsels LL.M. students, both U.S. and foreign trained, on matters related to career and professional development, the legal job search process, and post-graduate requirements for foreign trained students. Refers students and recent alumni to mentors, alumni, and other professional contacts. Develops and conducts skills development workshops on all components of the job search process – e.g., resume and cover letter writing, developing professional contacts, special applications and interview skills. Organizes and implements professional development programming, including career panels and networking events covering a wide range of practice areas. Prepares written informational materials on basic career guidance issues such as resume and cover letter writing, networking and interviewing. Cultivates relationships with U.S. and overseas employers and alumni, to generate internship and job opportunities for LL.M. students and graduates. Engages in domestic and international travel to aid in Graduate Programs recruitment efforts, and engage with prospective employers and alumni. Tracks internship and employment data for current students and recent alumni. Represents Law and provides necessary coordination and logistical functions at networking fairs, job fairs, and recruitment programs. Performs other work related duties as assigned. Should have a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2+ years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. JD degree strongly preferred. Should have counseling experience and knowledge of LL.M. curriculums and requirements.
