Associate General Counsel
Duties: Provides and coordinates legal advice, consultation, and education to Medical Center personnel. Advice to administrative staff; Advice and education for medical and other clinical staff; Timely response and investigation of incidents; Litigation management; Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, approving contracts and other legal documents; Coordination with the office of the Attorney General and special counsel; Management of the insurance program; Legal Services is charged with the responsibility of facilitating the conduct of business in a legally appropriate and efficient manner, protecting the resources of the Medical Center and performing the duties of loss prevention, claims management and risk financing. Will focus on providing legal advice and services to the Medical Center with a specific focus on regulatory compliance and the contract processes of the medical center. Will work closely with the Compliance Officer to advise on HIPAA, regulator matters, billing concerns, medical center compliance investigations and conflict of interest. Will also negotiate, draft, review, amend and provide legal advice on a number of medical center contracts including but not limited to: physician agreements, services arrangements, business associate agreements, research agreements, purchasing contracts, material transfer agreements, and leases. These agreements will address a wide range of topics including licensing, technology, data security, services, confidentiality, and inter-institutional collaborations. Will also include conducting legal research and analysis, and the implementation of special projects, as assigned.
