The candidate will report to the General Counsel and the Deputy General Counsel. Will serve as legal advisor to several institutional committees and individuals involved in regulating or performing research subject to federal law, state statute and/or University policy relating to the following: human subjects research, including IRB, FDA and HIPAA requirements; conflict of interest, including individual and institutional conflicts in research and other areas; research misconduct inquiries and investigations; research with animals; research involving recombinant or synthetic DNA and other biohazards; and research with controlled substances subject to DEA regulation. Will provide advice to faculty review committees and administrators on matters of health sciences student and resident performance and discipline, including disability issues; handles contested cases in preliminary stages; advises on policy development; drafts resident/fellow agreements; and reviews affiliation agreements to place students at external sites for health related rotations. Will also provide legal advice, counsel and representation in other areas as assigned by the General Counsel.
