SUMMARY
Bering Straits Logistics Services, LLC is seeking a qualified Small Engine Mechanic to repair and maintain small engine equipment in both gas and diesel equipment. The Small Engine Mechanic will maintain equipment records and serves as a lead person on small engine repair and maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform routine engine maintenance checks
Test and inspect engines for malfunctioning parts
Prepare equipment status reports
Repair or replace worn, defective, or broken parts
To be cross trained on a variety of other equipment that is supported by the CoMSupCen
Reassemble and reinstall components and engines following repairs
Keep records of inspections, test results, work performed, and parts used
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
Required (Minimum) Qualifications
High School Diploma
Two (2) years’ work experience in operation, repair, and maintenance of small equipment
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
Most possess a valid state driver’s license
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Basic understanding of military terminology
Ability to service and perform minor repairs on small engines
Ability to obtain a working understanding of electrical and plumbing systems
Must be able to discuss equipment problems and repairs with customers
Working knowledge of safety practices and procedures while making mechanical repairs
Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment with accuracy
Ability to create effective working relationships with employees
Must be extremely organized and possess a great attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
Preferred
Military CBRN experience
Prior Military experience

Activities requiring handling and grasping with the hands when performing repairs or maintenance of equipment by utilizing hand tools, power tools, air tools, nuts, bolts, electronic controls, and other small parts
Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., occasional lifting up to 50 lbs., and infrequent lifting up to 75 lbs.
Ability to walk and stand on concrete and uneven surfaces
Ability to bend, kneel and work with arms raised for prolonged periods of time
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 
This position requires working in both indoor and outdoor environments and in all weather conditions.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervisory responsibilities.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS
Ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.  Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.  Accordingly, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Must have reliable transportation to/from work and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
As a condition of employment, candidates must have acceptable background check results and pass a pre-employment drug screening.
This position may be subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing on an unannounced basis.
