A law firm seeks a highly motivated Associate to join its Intellectual Property Practice Group in Columbia, SC. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in patent preparation, prosecution, and strategic counseling, with a strong technical background in engineering or computer science.

Duties

• Prepare and prosecute U.S. patent applications.
• Manage domestic and foreign patent portfolios.
• Conduct patentability, freedom-to-operate, and validity analyses.
• Provide strategic intellectual property counseling to clients.
• Collaborate with clients across various industries and technologies.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
• 3-5 years of experience in patent prosecution and intellectual property counseling.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
• Experience in trademark prosecution is preferred.

Education

• J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• USPTO registration.
