Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Patent Associate to join its Intellectual Property Practice Group in Florham Park, New Jersey. This hybrid role supports a dynamic, growing team handling complex IP matters for diverse clients across the country, leveraging both local presence and a global platform.

Duties

• Support the strategic development, procurement, and counseling of patent portfolios.


• Draft patent applications in computer arts, including software, AI/ML, FinTech, and telecommunications.


• Prosecute patent applications and engage directly with clients on complex IP issues.


 

Requirements

• 2-4 years of focused experience in patent prosecution and drafting.


• Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is required.


• Proven experience drafting complex software patent applications.


• Excellent academic credentials with strong writing and analytical skills.


 

Education

• Degree in computer engineering or computer science is preferred.


• Advanced degrees in relevant technical fields are considered.


 

Certifications

• Active registration with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.


 

Skills

• Expertise in software, AI/ML, LLMs, FinTech, and telecommunications technologies.


• Ability to work effectively with clients of all sizes.


• Strong analytical and technical writing capabilities.
