Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Corporate Tax and Tax-Exempt Organizations Associate to join its elite practice group in Los Angeles, California. This role offers the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art technology in a professional environment while developing expertise in nonprofit and tax-exempt matters. The position is based in the Downtown Los Angeles office and offers a hybrid work arrangement.

Duties

• Draft and review transaction documents, board materials, IRS submissions, and advisory materials for nonprofit mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and conversions.



• Support clients on tax compliance, unrelated business income, private inurement, intermediate sanctions, and executive compensation matters.



• Advise on governance, fundraising, charitable giving, and tax-exempt bond financings for diverse nonprofit sectors.



• Collaborate directly with partners and clients on sophisticated matters across healthcare, education, and research.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of transactional tax experience at a large law firm.



• Experience advising nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations is required.



• Admission to the California Bar is mandatory.



• Excellent academic credentials, analytical skills, and strong verbal and written communication abilities.

Education

• LLM in Taxation is preferred but not required.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in the State of California.

• Proficiency in handling complex transactional tax matters and deal experience.
